Tips for Working Remotely

IMPORTANT:  This page contains some suggested methods for using ChiroTouch remotely. However, if remote-access software is required for your clinic, it will need to be configured and maintained by your local IT professional.

There are several options to consider when looking to access your ChiroTouch environment from a remote location. Presented in order of ease of implementation:

  1. Unattended remote access (easiest to set up)
  2. Remote access for iPad (may require the help of a local IT professional)
  3. Virtual Private Network (VPN) (likely to require the help of a local IT professional)

Unattended Remote Access

This type of remote access will allow you to take control of the screen on the computers within your clinic's network. Consult with your IT vendor on options for your clinic.

Remote Access for iPad

Our iPad applications have remote access capability. This includes Provider, Scheduler, Forms, Outcome Assessments, and the CTIntake service. However, there is no Front Desk app for iPad.

VPN

VPN is another option to consider if many users need to access your ChiroTouch remotely. This method creates a secure connection from the remote device (like your home laptop) to your office network via the internet. Your home laptop's ChiroTouch programs can then work with the ChiroTouch server at your office.

However, there are some technical considerations:

  1. Latency. Working remotely via the internet will always be slower/delayed to some degree vs. working locally (within the office, physically).
  1. In the case of latency due to a VPN, ChiroTouch is dependent on the current network conditions of the VPN from site to site. Those speeds depend greatly on the throughput and latency of the actual VPN connection. Because of this, a direct site-to-site connection is ideal between locations using a VPN. However, this is only feasible if both sites have the same Internet Service Provider.

NOTE:   ChiroTouch does not provide technical support for terminal workstations or VPN. However, ChiroTouch recognizes that these are useful tools in many business environments.
